A nucleus should form around which a progressive growth can take place. In my opinion an association is very essential in Dhaka where a large number of sea-farers are residing. Initially, the association and its organisers may have some ideas that may prove unattainable at a later stage, nevertheless, a matured, sustainable entity may develop with participation of people with deeper experience and wider views. Therefore, initiative to establish a club sort of association in Dhaka should receive encouragement from all corners. I had the opportunity to participate in one of it's monthly meeting and it was really enjoyable. The financial dreams of the organization should not overshadow the facts that it can immensely contribute to fulfill our social needs. "Birds of the same feather flock together.." why not the mariners in Dhaka !!!!!

I do not think that it is a practicable or cost effective proposition. For databank, information, communication etc, I think Bangladesh Mariners website is the best 'place' - we should develop it further.

I would support the idea of having a residential area for mariners but wonder how many of us would be willing to build a duplex type house only!! Is a suitable and affordable site available in Dhaka itself?

With regard to emergency funds, a benevolent fund already exists at Chittagong. We could make it more resourceful and effective. Any views would be welcome.
