Dear Capt. Abdullah Bhai

Assalamu Alaikum

I sent e-mail to Tanveer about Tarek and also sent you copy. I got reply from tanveer. I tried to call him so many time he was released from Singapore hospital then. I checked atleast three times a day your Webster just get news. then I was shocked and he died on 22nd on may. same thing happened again he got sick when he was working at sea.I do not know Nasreen bhabi (Fazlu bhai,s wife)got any benefit from apt.Abed or not. I found end of the year Ex cadets are going to meet together in Juldia for 40th anniversary . I think it is very important todiscuss about mariners health and life insurance issue. Because whoever residing in usa, canada,uk,australia, singapore with legal statushave their coverage but I believe still 90% officer living in Bangladesh . No job security,no permanent benefit. Abdullah Bhai ,you did a great job to create this Webster. I am not from Marine Academy but we are all from same boat, I am only Half an hour train line distance from your home. I pray for you believe that you can do it through your strong communication capability. Last of all I am always with. Let me know If I can assist you any means am always tell ex marine fisheries cadet to join with you.

Allah Hafez.

be evergreen in the hearts of all his batchmates.

Singapore

Dear brothers,

Accompanied by his brother Tarek Mahmood (Juldia cadet, 29th batch, I made mistake earlier by taking him to be from 33rd batch) left for Dhaka on a Singapore Airline flight on 11 May 2002. We (Myself, my wife, Rafiqul Quader, Zahirul Islam and some of Tarek's friends) saw him off at the Changi Airport. He continued to wave his emaciated hand till it disappeared from our view. I felt, deep in my heart, it was a farewell to life. May Allah be merciful to him.

I was overwhelmed with emotions for your generous and spontaneous support for a brother in most serious distress. It was manifestation, in full glory and nobility, of your fraternal feeling, sense of fellowship and brotherhood. Indeed it was humanity at its best. Dear brothers, let this be the example of triumphant Juldia spirit that will transcend all petty feelings and hold us together in times of gravest of crisis and grief that may engulf us. May Allah give us the wisdom to cherish and endeavour to uphold this spirit for all time to come.

His total medical bill was about S$35000.00. Discounting all previous payments, the outstanding medical bill (interim) was S$12444.98. Your gifts towards meeting the expenses for medical treatment of your brother amounted to S$6850.00. This we handed over to Tanvir Mahmood (himself a Juldia cadet, 25th batch). The accounts were settled and we left Gleneagles Hospital at about 6.30 pm.

All our brothers and sisters here have done their best to make Tarek feel that he is dear and precious to us. His friends have stood vigil on his bedside and it was most heartening to see his senior brothers and their wives trying to do as much as possible to make him feel comfortable.

I have been informed that Tarek reached Dhaka safely. I take solace in the thoughts that he is now with his mother. May Allah grant him that which is best for him.

May Allah bless us all.

Sincerely yours,

Sheikh Shahabuddin

Dear Mr. Tanveer

Assalamu alaikum

I am Ex mariner from Bangladesh Marine fisheries academy, I worked in Bangladeshi and foreign vessel as Engineer. now residing in USA for last16 years. it is from my heart, I will conduct special pray at our mosque in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA, at next Jummah In-sha Allah for Tarek.

I would have some suggestion, if it works for him. you should hire some attorney in the country where he worked ie.company to expedite the medical insurance claim from my past experience I found,Haque & sons will not care that much for their crew. secondly, if you can bring tarek to USA for treatment it would be almost free. because so many government hospital gave free treatment. if he has USA visa.

And it is my pleasure to pay the cost of attorney or travel expense to USA for my beloved tarek. (May Allah be with him all the time) I also thank Capt. Abdullah for working hard to keep us together by developing Webster.

Please Don't hesitate to call me If I can do anything for tarek Any time 215 361 3804 Res. 215 393 1159 voicemail

".....You all know that the young Marine Officer Tarek Mahmood (29th) had undergone a successful Kidney Transplant operation April 2001 at Chennai, India. After the Transplant he passed last one year very smoothly. But last month suddenly he felt pain in his right shoulder and it increases day by day. After consulting with his doctor at Chennai, India, we took him to Chennai. There he had undergone lots of tests and others. But doctors over there could not identify the cause of the severe pain. And after doing the biopsy of Liver they found that he has serious Liver problem. At the time he had also undergone a minor surgery to remove Blood Clot around his liver. We came back to Bangladesh on 23 April 2002. On 28 April Tarek flew to Singapore along with his elder brother Tanveer Mahmood (25th). Now Tarek is Admitted at Glen Eagles Hospital, 6 Naipear Road, Singapore. Probably he will have to undergo a liver surgery. Please place the present condition of Tarek Mahmood at your web page so that every mariners can know and tell every one to pray for his as he can be able to recover from his recent condition. Anyone can contact Tanveer Mahmood (25th), elder brother of Tarek at his mobile +65-94342008 to get Tarek's latest condition.

You also know that first he fell sick on board on January 2001. So according to regulation on November 2001 he applied for his medical expenses and P&I Insurance clam through his last Local agent Haque & Sons, Chittagong. But still his clam is under process. It is known to all that the treatment in Singapore is highly expensive. So would you please appeal through your web page if anyone can do something to expedite his P&I insurance case and to settle as soon as possible so that we can save the life of a young dedicated Mariner.

In February 2001, received the shocking news of illness of Tarek. After that I had to update sad news again and again. Was always hoping and praying hard to publish better news. I took down his news immediately when I learnt that he is arriving Dhaka after exhausting treatment in Singapore. I was afraid that he will read his own bad news. Eventually he left us for good. His friends and relatives tried their best and hope the Almighty  will give them the strength to endure this loss.  ................... Capt. Abdullah, 23 May 2002
