I felt like to cry, when I was reading Shadman's article. Thanks to Sadruddin Bhai to bring it to us. None of us really know, what is written in our fate. But each of us, those who are having growing children, do understand very well as how pathetic it is for that family to bear such shock. May Allah help them to fight the coming future. Best regards.

Subject : Jalal's Sons need all our helping hands

Salam to All,

As we are all aware that our very good friend Jalal (18th batch) left us forever unexpectedly leaving his two very young sons behind who are yet to be raised, I wish to take this opportunity to thank Sadaruddin (19th batch), who helped Jalal's family during their very difficult times, in fact still he is the only man who is taking all the pain to help the broken family.

What Sadaruddin has done & still doing for our Jalal's family, I guarantee, no one in this earth can expect that a man can do anything more than that.

Also I must let every one know that Sadaruddin opened a "Trust Account" in Darwin, Australia, for both the sons, this account will be  only for their future education. Now we need to contribute to this account & grow.

I feel, we all as Jalal's friends & fellow mariners should come forward and extend our helping hand for these two very young boys future education.

I wish to circulate this mail to all our seniors & juniors mariner friends, and humbly request, who ever can come forward & contribute at least a little to make a very big difference for these two very young boys, they need all our helping hands very much.

If you wish to contribute in Bangladesh, you can choose my bank account to do so,

I knew Jalal since 1994 when he was living in Sydney. He was a very much 'my dear' type and could easily get close to anybody. His company was very enjoyable. I am sure whoever knew him will be very sad. May Allah grant him Jannat.

Got the news on 30th through email from Manjur and Sadaruddin. Hard, really hard to believe but absolutely true. Jalal Bhai will no more be there with us, the living ones. Such a fine athelete, gold medalist in 100m sprint, Javeline throw...we all remember...only memories last. But again as Socretes said, "which is better only God knows"..life or death. As a believer, I believe Jannat is a better place..and may Allah place him in the Jannah.
I have quite a few memories of him and his family. I was there in Sydney (got PR in 1994) in 1994, when only a few mariners got migrated to Australia. Jalal Bhai was one of the first few. I still remember the taste of food in his place. Bhabi used to cook very nice. A very cheerful and lovable sweet little family. May Allah give Bhabi and his two sons the strength to bear the loss and bless them with peace and guidance. Aameen

It's with great sorrow I have learned about the sudden demise of AKM Shah Jalal Chy. Though I did not personally know him neverthesless we seafarers have very strong bonding. It's a shame to lose someone so young but it is Allah's will & what can we do.

Naweed Omar (16th), Perth, Australia
I can't express my sadness in words. My mind flashed back to the days when we sailed together on Banglar Kakoli. Jalal and Atik were both cadets and I was a fiver. I remember his mischievous smile when we were onto something naughty. Much later, I met Jalal and his family a few times in Darwin, and there was no dearth of his usual good nature and we talked and laughed of old times. I would like to remember him that way.
May Allah be merciful and takes good care of him. May Allah gives strengthto bhabi to overcome the shock and grief.

I was saddened with the news of Jalal's unimely demise. We were in frequent contact, particularly Jalal was regularly providing me cricket updates, sometime with video clips. He was a very keen enthusiastic for Australiawide Mariners Reunion. Career wise, I must say , Jalal was one of the success story for a Bangladeshi Mariner overseas within such a short span of time.We all in Australia will be missing him.
May God rest his soul in eternal peace.

He was such a good friend. Never saw him angry. Never quarreled. Never expressed any frustation with anyone. He was younger in heart than most of us. When we heard the news in the morning here in Bangladesh, the first question came to our mind - why he???
We know, no one answers such question in this world with enough logic. This is life. With his death, he has pointed a finger towards a chapter of life that we have been ignoring so far.
May Allah (SWT) accept our friend with grace and forgiveness and place him in heaven.
Ameen.

With heartfelt sadness I like to inform you all that  my batch-mate Shah Jalal Chowdhury (18th Batch) passed away on Sept 28, 2007 (Inna Illah...) He died of a heart attack. He left behind his beloved wife and two sons. They're residing in Australia.
I could not believe my ears when I heard the news. He was a good sport and always enjoyed his good health. It's really very hard for all our batch-mates and his close associates to accept this sudden loss. I express my deep condolences to his family. May Allah bless his departed soul in peace and give strength to his family to bear this sudden loss.
Amen.
I'll miss you Jalal - my good friend. How can I forget all those sweet memories with you ??!!! We won't let you die from our heart and your memories will remain as vivid as you were - I promise.

Its extremely hard to beleive that Jalal bhai is no more with us. He was an example of a real gentlman who I have encountered many times in my career especially we stayed very close in Southshields in 1992 for one year when I was doing my combined class 2/1 & he (with his family) was doing his chief & he is still fresh in my memory. Its unbearable grief to accept his departure at his age. Anyway Allah always does right, which we all have to cope up with.We all pray for his departed soul & may Allah bless him heaven as he left us in this holy month of Ramadan. Let Allah take care of his family as well in this completely unexpected/unwanted circumstances.
30 Sep 2007

Shahidul Alam (17th), Dhaka
I am very sorry to hear this. I had a very friendly relation with him and passed time together on a ship and South Shields. Though I never met him or heard from him after my accident, My honest prayer will be, may Allah grant him Jannat and his family patience.
We Muslims believe that everything whatsoever exists, belongs to Almighty ALLAH (SWT). We have come empty handed and will go empty handed. We are allowed by ALLAH (SWT) to enjoy his "NEYAMOTS" temporarily. No one is going to enjoy everything for ever. Definitely we shall have to follow brother Jalal one by one some day. These deaths are cautionary message to us from the Almighty that, you might be the next, so better HURRY. Finish your duty as Muslim.
Jalal & many others memory became blurred in my mind though once they used to be very dearer and nearer to me. Now I have started to forget once very known faces. Please don't take it by heart but, I shall humbly inform people that, I dont know how long I shall be in this world but fact is I still exist and Hadith tells, it is an obligatory duty of every Muslim to visit and inspire any sick or distressed colleague of him time to time. I think, people should keep in touch when ever they can make it.
