Lonely Eid in prison for Bangladesh's fallen leaders

    Ruma Paul, Reuters

DHAKA - Dozens of Bangladesh's former top leaders, including two former prime ministers, will spend a lonely weekend in jail as the country marks the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan with the traditional Eid holiday.
Besides former premiers Begum Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina, more than 170 other key political figures have been detained in a corruption crackdown since an interim authority headed by former central bank governor Fakhruddin Ahmed took charge in January following months of political violence.
The high-profile politicians will celebrate this year's Eid al-Fitr holiday -- which is marked feasts and the exchange of gifts -- separated from their families, friends and followers.
